I have 2 ASA 5520's configured for LAN based active standby failover. a remote site connects to both of these ASA's via a LES circuit into each. The LES circuits terminate on a demarcation devices in both ASA locations. If the LES goes down, the active outside ASA interface remains up. Is there anyway I can track the next hop or further downstream if the LES fails; this to allow the ASA to failover accordingly?
The security appliances are used as a failover pair - One security appliance could have the -K8 designation while the other does not. They will operate normally in a failover setup. Cisco is eliminating the -K8 from future ASA hardwares because of the customer confusion that it has caused.
