Can Crypto be applied to incoming ethernet interface.

Hi,

We are trying to form a VPN tunnel between two routers connected via point to point link between two hosts from either side. ( host A from router A LAN to host B from router B lan ). We have succesfully implemented tunnel by applying crypto maps to both routers serial interfaces. That is data from host A goes to host B through that tunnel formed on serial interfaces.

Problem is , when serial link fails ISDN back up takes over and data is transfered via ISDN link , as crypto is not applied to ISDN data goes unencrypted. In order to bypass this situation is it possible to apply crypto to fastethernet interfaces of routers, in this case data may go via serial or isdn it will definitely be encrypted.

Configuration is very simple.

We are setting peers of the tunnnel as serial addrss, can we put peer addrees as ethernet addrsss and form the tunnel.

We have tried but it is not working.

Any link on cisco.com is highly appreciated.

Thankx in advance

Hi Subodh

You need to apply the crypto map on the BRI interface too so that your data traversing through the BRI also gets encrypted.

I feel in this case you need to create another crypto map with similar parameters so that you can apply the same on the BRI interface.
