Cisco ACS/ACS Express vs. MS or FreeRADIUS

Hi Everyone,

We're currently using two 3015 series VPN concentrators which authenticate against v3.2. We've looked into the lastest ACS product available from Cisco, but was wondering if we couldn't simply use an MS, FreeRadius version or simply have users authenticate against our own Windows active directory and forego the need for an ACS solution? We don't use the accounting, reporting or administration controls currently offered by the ACS productline.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

You can configure it in Server-authentication

It should support Radius server for sure.

It should support old windows NT domain but might not support new MS AD.

But you should be able to use MS IAS (MS radius) to do the authentication via MS AD.
