I have noticed a rather funny behaviour when logging on to my VPN concentrator using VPN client. The first attempt fails but the second goes through. (very funny) but this happens every time you logon.
are you getting any logs when you login for the first time? you can run a live log and see this. if not might be a software bug !!!
