pix failover

two pix525 do failover. the two outside port connect to router.the router does't support multicast.so one outside port can't receive another's hello message.

then when the active pix outside fail.if the failover work well?

when two outside port are work well.what

state of failover.if can work or not?

Hi

I can suggest to check out for the hello messages being recieved on the pix pairs which is very much reqd for maintaining the Active/Standby state.

From your post if feel you arent using up the serial cable to have the failover messages being communicated with in the devices..

Is is possible to setup a serial cable in this case and have ur failover re-configured via that ?

Also in the latest IOS versions you can have both the pix firewalls doing loadbalancing act maintaining Active/Active which you can lookout for..

Would suggest to check this link for more info in reconfiguring the fo based on ur serial cable also configuring active/active state..
