PIX problem

We are facing a problem with two PIX 515E (7.02) in failover.

A network outage occurred during which all devices beyond the Pix were not available. During the time of the outage, primary PIX was not accessible via telnet and console.

The secondary PIX was accessible via console and displayed following message: -

Detected an Active mate

Unable to sync configuration from Active

The traffic flow resumed via the secondary PIX after approximately 2 minutes. Even then, the PIX interface status was reported down with line protocol up

Interface Ethernet0 "outside", is down, line protocol is up

Even after traffic flow resumed the primary PIX continued to be inaccessible.

After restarting the primary PIX, it returned to service and worked normally.

What could be causing this ?

Re: PIX problem

assuming both units are back on track after the power cycle of primary unit, do "sh failover" in order to verify whether the state is being sync between the two units. if not, the issue may be related to the config and/or cabling.
