Would anybody have an idea how to find an ip address associated with a router?
I have the hostname.
Trying to get info on cisco 3845 router.
If I do ipconfig, I only get my vlan router.
need IP to putty into it thats why

There are several ways. Here a a few:
You can traceroute to something on the far side of the router and see what it reports when the path goes through it.
If you can get into an adjacent Cisco device you can usually see the IP addresses of other adjacent Cisco devices with the command "show cdp neighbor detail". Among the things that will report (assuming CDP is not disabled) is the management address of the neighbor router.
You can also connect to the router's physical console port and check the config directly.

when i do
"show cdp neighbor detail", I get the details of the router Im in. Nothing else.

Well then you're either not a neighbor or the adjacent router doesnt have cdp enabled.
You'll have to use one of the other methods in that case.
