Site-Site VPN & Internet on same DSL?

New User

I am running myself in circles - I'm not looking for a config per se but a pointer if I'm in the rigth ball park?

Office 1 LAN - Cisco 877 - DSL - Internet - OK

Office 2 LAN - Cisco 877 - DSL - Internet - OK

If I create a VPN between the static IP of the offices (using SDM) then we loose Internet. I thought the router would be able to determine if traffic is VPN (go to static IP of opposite office) if Internet go "elsewhere".

I'm being told that to run a site-site VPN AND Internet then at one location I will need at least two DSL connections.

Is that correct?

Thx

Mike

Hi Mike,

We need to specifically configure the Routers with access lists classifying the traffic for the VPN and nat exempt it if need be.

Please check out the guide for setting up Site-to-Site VPN on cisco routers below,

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk583/tk372/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080194650.shtml

Cheers,

Nash.

Nash,

So Site-to-Site VPN and Internet is possible with one DSL line at each site using a Cisco 877, if I work through this document?

Reason for the question, is the document says it uses 1721 routers.

Thx

Mike

Hi,

As long as you're natting your internet traffic and not natting your vpn traffic there won't be any problem.

Post  your running config here.

Regards.
