Site to Site VPN with Host Name

Is it possible to create a VPN site to site using host name rather than IP address of the router.

I want to create a site to site between an office with a static ip and a site with dynamic ip and was thinking I could use DDNS to resolve the host name.

Hi,

it probably will depend on device. But for example ASA can do this with command

crypto isakmp peer {address {ipv4-address | ipv6 ipv6-address} | hostname fqdn-hostname}

and IOS router with this command

crypto isakmp key keystring hostname peer-hostname

Best regards,

Jan

An ASA site-site VPN for a DHCP-addressed peer uses the dynamic cryptomap. Please see this thread and the document linked therein.
