SSL VPN Licensing

I have two 5510 ASA's in Active/Standby.  I added 10 SSL VPN license's which broke the failover.  Why does Cisco require a Small Business to purchase 20 licenses to only be able to use 10.  I understand there is an SSL VPN sharing license which you need to have 500 SSL VPN licenses before you can even start sharing.  It doesn't seem like Cisco cares to much about the Small Business community.  This riduculous licensing requirement has recently pushed me to start buying from Cisco's competitors.  Is there any chance that this licensing issue will be resolved?

Thanks,

Chad

Yes, SSL VPN licensing issue has been resolved in ASA version 8.3 and above. You no longer requires 10 SSL license on both Active/Standby ASA failover pair.

Please kindly note that NAT however has changed from version 8.3 and you might want to familiar yourselves with the new NAT configuration prior to upgrade to version 8.3.

Here is the URL for your reference:

Hope that helps.

If this is however the case, then I apologize.  I have been misinformed.  I have spoke twice with a Cisco rep from Dell and they told me once that I needed licenses on each ASA and the second time they said that I needed at least 500 AnyConnect Licenses to use the SSL VPN sharing license.

Thanks,

Chad

Here is the licensing information on ASA 8.3 on failover and SSL VPN (or other feature license) for your reference:
