Telecommuting Equipment?????

I run a medium sized business. Our outbound communications with our customers is critical to our success. Telecommuting is very appealing to us for the potential cost savings in office space and time. What

equipment is required to do the job?

Hi,

the possibly cheapest solution is a VPN gateway at your main office and VPN clients on Telecommuter PCs. Alternatively you could use 830 series of routers to setup the VPN tunnel.

Hi Thomas,

I don't believe there is a single answer for all companies to the question of "what equipment do I need to telecommute". It all depends on what type of work your organization and teams do.

I recommend performing a workflow analysis on your organization or team. In doing so you want to look at your needs for information, communication, and collaboration.

Once you do that you can then make smart choices in the technology that best suits your needs.

Don't forget to also make sure everyone gets training on the solutions you choose - a very important, often overlooked step.
