I have one client with VPN client 5.0.03.0560 installed on a Windows XP SP3 pc. Client was having issues connecting to the network so I decided to do a VPN repair through add\remove programs. I am receiving this error: "Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I decided to completely uninstall the VPN client and delete the program folder. I rebooted the pc and proceeded to install a newer vpn client version 5.0.07.0290. I am now getting the same exact error during the attempted installation. Please advise.
there is an utility from Microsoft that you can run to kill the running installation called windows installed cleanup, after you have run this utility try to install the latest windows installer 3.1 or later.
