VPN connection from home systems

For the longest time I have not allowed non work computes to connect to the work network through the VPN.  I now have a user, a principal owner at the firm, that says that he got a brand new system that only he and his wife will use and he wants to get it connected through the VPN so he will have access to his files remotely.  What is the general consensus about letting users hook their home systems up to the work VPN.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

Obviously no problem on technical side of things :-)

one of the things you could take care of is that computers connecting to your VPN do have firewall + antivirus installed - this can be done via CSD for example.

Additional step you might be interested is to perform some sort of additional authentication step for users coming in - auth-proxy or cut through proxy would be the Cisco way to do this.

Downloadable ACLs would be also a step you might consider.

Much much more :-)

M.
