VPN Session ID - static?

Hi,

VPN Session IDs are generated by default and they keep on changing randomly as the tunnel is being reset. Is there a way that we could statically define the session id for a particular tunnel?

We are trying to monitor the VPN Tunnels from an SNMP management station. Here the tunnels are identified by their respective session id. Now because of the dynamic nature of the session id, we are not able to identify the tunnels.

Any thoughts on this?

Re: VPN Session ID - static?

No, the sessionID will always be dynamic, and it can not be configured as static as by nature it will be dynamically assigned a sessionID once the VPN tunnel is UP.

You should be able to use different field to monitor the VPN, for static LAN-to-LAN VPN, you can use the peer address as that would be static. For remote access VPN, you can either use the username to monitor the remote access VPN which again will be static.
