What are /20 /22

For a 192.168.1.0/24 my understanding is it equivalent to have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 --correct?

Now what do the 20 and 22 stand for:

172.16.0.0/20

2.244.32.0/22

Thanks to help.

Scott

Re: What are /20 /22

yes. /24 = 255.255.255.0

/20 = 255.255.240.0

/22 = 255.255.252.0

for subnet calculation, download the freeware from boson:
