Hi,
my customer has bought new 1751 router, it is hanging often. Ios is 12.3
what might be the problem?

Hi,
It could be a number of things:
- there could be a bug with that version of the IOS e.g. a memory leak which causes the router to use up all free memory, eventually causing it to lock up
- you may have mis-configured something that is leading to this situation
One quick way of eliminating at one of the above is to upgrade the IOS on the router to see whether the problem still exists. If the problem is still there, I would start looking at the config to see if there is anything suspect there. You could start off by putting in a bare-bones config and then incrementally add features to it to see what is triggering it.

Hi,
20 days back it used to hang for every 1 hour.
that time some one suggested me to remove primary public ip address on fast ethernet address.
it solved the problem temporarily. now it is hanging but for every 4 hours.
today customer powered off the router. tomorrow i will post the router configuration.

For See the IOS bug, you can compaire the exist image and new downlaod image from cisco website.
many times hang for cpu utilization.you see your cpu utilization 80% or more.
