1841 High CPU usage

Hi all,

I have a 1841 router plugged into a 100M Comcast ethernet connection. My router cpu is really high and users download speed isn't as high as before.

Can a 1841 handle 100M circuit with 100 users on it? What would cause the router's cpu to be high? I don't think there are any viruses or malware on the lan.

Any help would be appreciated.

#sh proc cpu his

1841 High CPU usage

Hello Russell,

Why you consider your CPU to be High?

1 hour graph showing it to be very low - around 10%. 72 hour graph showing baseline (#) also close to 10% - there are only just few spikes seen those can be related to some routing updates, spikes in traffic or telnet/ssh session done to router, etc.

I don't see any point to worry now unless you see it consistently. If it is possible - please capture "shwo proc cpu sort" during the spike to see what it is driven by.

Nik
