1841 Router AES 256 Encryption

I'm looking to support AES VPN encryption on a 1841. I am running advanced IP IOS but AES is not an option. I guess this is down to export restrictions. Does anyone know where to get this from on ciso and how to install it? I am in UK so its ok for high encrypt.

Re: 1841 Router AES 256 Encryption

Hey Mate,

One IOS that is *supposed* to support it is c1841-advipservicesk9-mz.12.4-7. You can get it from:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Software/Iosplanner/Planner-tool/iosresult.cgi?get_crypto=&data_from=&hardware_name=1841&software_name=ADVANCED%20IP%20SERVICES&release_name=12.4.7&majorRel=12.4&state=:HW:RL:SW&type=Limited%20Deployment

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.

Thanks Paresh,

I run 1841 - Advsecurityk9 -m ver 12.4 (3b). Is not like PIX where you have to apply for high encryt outside the US? My documentation leads me to believe this version should support it.

Rob

I just checked on 1841 one running 12.3(8)T7 and one running 12.4(3) Advsecurity feature set and AES is an option on both of them. I am not sure why it is not showing as an option on your router.

Re: 1841 Router AES 256 Encryption

Thanks both of you, managed to get it working.

Some confusion on the export restrictions of the router compared with the PIX.

Normally in the UK we have to apply to Cisco for the high encrytp PIX licences by default.
