3560 booting to bootloader prompt

Hi friends,

Just wanted to share a problem that I have encountered with a Cisco 3560 image. For some reason, the IOS image got deleted. The Switch was unable to reload because there was no image.

how to sort out this?

Re: 3560 booting to bootloader prompt

you must boot into bootldr mode and 'xmodem' a new ios image to the device.

please see the following link for using xmodem to upload an image to the 3560:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps637/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008007e83c.html#xtocid14

(many communication packages support xmodem; you will have to find a package you can use as cisco does not supply this software)

ie: hyperTerminal (ships with windows); procomm; pcanywhere...many more
