3750 QoS metro-ethernet

Can someone please verify that my QoS settings are correct?  I'm prioritizing VoIP traffic (DSCP 46/COS5) over a 100Mb Layer 2 metro ethernet line, the phones are all Avaya VoIP phones.  The reason I'm asking is that the voice quality is terrible and I think the problem is at the provider and not on my equipment.  I verified that VoIP traffic (and only VoIP) has DSCP 46 marking with a packet capture.

Here are the relevent configs:

interface GiabitEthernet 2/0/24

     bandwidth 100000

     srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20

     queue-set 2

     priority-queue out

I should add that the port is configured as a layer 3 port with an IP (I left out those config lines as I didn't think they'd be relevant).

Thanks!

Hi Niro

I think you are using some kinda template there which you are using in all your switchports and applied the same onto this port as well.

As far as i know once the traffic comes out of L2 to L3 you need to make use of PQ/CBWFQ techniques to prioritize the voice and guarantee bandwidth to other traffic.

Have you negotiated the class maps / QoS policies with your SP, it does matter that your SP honours and carry forward your QoS settings throughout his network and deliver the same @ remote end. Atleast he needs to match your traffic priorities with his internal maps.

Untill otherwise this is there in place you cant expect a quality voice transaction between the locations.
