I have a 3845 that needs another GE port (in addition to two onboard) - seemingly I could get a NM-1GE or a HWIC-1GE-SFP - what are reasons I would chose one over the other (price independent)?
The NM might have more bandwidth. (NMEs, at least on 37x5s, are noted as 1 Gbps.) A Q&A notes the HWIC bus is limited to 400 Mbps.
On a 3845, sustained gig throughput itself, could be an issue if limited to the 3845's 500 Kpps rating.
