3845 NM and HWIC

I have a central office lan that needs to connect to 5 remote offices. All the connectios are optical. Can i use 1 onboard GE using media converters, plus 2 NM-1GE and 2 HWIC-1GE-SFP?

Or can i use 4x NM-1GE?

My dought is if i can use the NM-GE and HWIC-1GE-SFP to connect to the remote sites?

That should work if the router supports that many GE interfaces. Do have any layer 3 switches with SFP's? I would think that would be cheaper (assuming you have that infrastructure already).
