Hi,

I am looking at upgrading our 4503 to the 4507R+E. Just going through the configurations and a couple of commands seemed to have dropped off this release.

1. I can no longer specify encapsulation type on a trunk. Does the 4507 auto sence encapsulation and apply it dynamically?

2. I had dscp trust configuration as below on the 4503, whats the equivilent on the 4507?

qos trust dscp
auto qos voip trust
tx-queue 3
    priority high
    shape percent 33

Thanks

Brendan

Hello Brendan,

1) yes, it would autosense. To see that, you can issue show interface switchport. As ISL is not supported, the only one left out is 802.1q. Cisco made it easy

2) What is the SUP engine you are on? If it's a SUP 6E, then the command is not supported. Below is the link

Thanks

Thanks Vivek, SUP 7, I take it from your comment the 7 will not supprt the command either. There was concern the switch would overwrite the IP phones dscp tags, will have to run up some traffic captures to see if this is the case on the new gear.

Thanks

Brendan

Yes, you are right. Same case with Sup7 as well. By default everything is trusted. Switch wouldn't overwrite the DSCP value learnt from IP Phone, it would simply trust it. You can check that up with a capture though.
