does the 10gig port on 4948 is hard-coded? meaning you can't change the duplex to 1gig, correct?

that means, no way around to establish a connection to a 1gig port for uplink.

You cannot change the port speed to less than 10 gig. It must connect to another 10 gig Xenpack. You cannot connect a 10 gig Xenpack to a SFP or GBIC.

I hope this answers your question.

Jim

yup, that answer my question. I just need to confirm and I have same thought too.

thanks jim.

Thanks,

Not supported currently, but perhaps some time in the future the TwinGig model will be supported in the 4948-10GE X2 slots.

I have recently bought a load of these switches.. They came with a twin gig sfp converter for an X2 slot. Model number is CVR-X2-SFP V01

I don't know if its supported or not, but it would seem strange that Cisco sent these with the switches without them being supported.

I haven't tested them as I put 10Gig interfaces in.

the C3560E is another option that supports TwinGig if you're interested.

Thanks
