6500 question

I've got a 6509E with MSFC runnig in hybrid mode.

If I'm on the CatOS and I want to go to the MSFC I just use the "session 15" command, but what about if I connect remotely directly to the MSFC, I don't know the IP address of the sc0 interface and I want to access the CatOS?

Hi Friend,

If you directly access the msfc from remote location and do not know the ip addres of sc0 interface I don't think you can access the sup engine.

Can you try "sh cdp nei detail" and see if you get the ip address of sc0 interface from sup engine and then you can sue that ip address to telnet to sup engineer from msfc.

I can only see external connections from MSFC to other devices

Hi Friend,

I am sorry to say then there is no way other then if you know which switch is directly connected to cat6k switch and from there run "sh cdp nei detail" to get the ip of sc0 interface.
