800 Series Router Autosense atm pvc

Hi,

I'm planning to configure these devices for different ISP.

Some of which use snap and some use mux, the router is the one will start the connection and will always be on, untill there is a power cut, if there is. At this point when the power comes back on and a packet's destination is the outside the router should intiate a connection over the atm.

I have looked at the article:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/12_2b/12_2b8/feature/guide/ftpauto2.html

But is says under Restrictions:

Do not use this feature on a router that initiates PPPoA sessions.

This feature supports ATM PVCs. Switched virtual circuits (SVCs) are not supported.

PPPoA does not support static IP assignments within virtual templates.

The second and thrid I can understand and the 3rd will just get assigned an IP address from the ISP.

But with the first point how is it possible to set this up when the router cannot initate the connection?

Also when you setup the auto sense which template do you use?

Thanks

In my experience, that is not a good feature for making a simple, stable connection, and may even not work at all.

The VC values are well known and I would recommend hardcoding them all the time.
