851 console trouble

hi all

I have 851 router that works in every way but it doesnt talk back thro console port. I will receive commands that i type in blindly ( getting good at it : ) )

I used a few diffent term programs and i now th serial port , cable and term progams all work becasue i checked them on cisco 2950 switch and a 878 router.

i managed to input all teh commands blind and manged to get at it useing the ip address. all that works fine. 

i got it off ebay so have no idea whats happened to it before i got it

any ideas

Check your console settings, start with 9600-N-8-1...

ty for that  but thats all bin checked   as i said the router receives and process commands so settings much be right

Have you tried using other baud rates? Try to crank it up and and find out which one works.
