857 as modem

Hi,

I have one 1811 and one 857 router to get the adsl service. So I need to configure 857 in bridge mode and 1811 as pppoe client, so the wan ip address is assigned to the 1811 fastethernet interface.

My question is can I set up a private ip address for 857 so I can change or monitor via lan port?

Can I enable irb and assign ip to BVI1?

In this way, as atm0 interface is bridged to vlan1, will it interfere with the pppoe connection?

Any thought is appreciated?

Hi,

Yes, you can do that. But if you get a 1801 instead of the two routers, that would be better.
