A 506e Doozie

Here is what we would like to do:

We would like to put our 506e right behind our router and infront of the rest of our network. Everything is on the same subnet. We would like to use the 506e for VPN and firewall.

Is all this a pipe dream?

Thanks.

Router-----X-----PIX------Y------inside

You will need to do some re-ip addressing because segments X and Y will need two sets of ip addresses.

PIX's inside interface (facing segment Y) can take the ip address that is currently configured on your router.

You also have to decide where you want to do your NAT, on the PIX or the router. If doing NAT on the PIX you will need a public subnet on the segment X.
