Accessing file shares behind router using NAT

I am trying to access a file share behind a router where I am using NAT.

I have created a static 1 to 1 translation for the outside to the inside address so all other traffic like RDP (Terminal Services) works fine but I cannot get a file share like \\172.16.1.3\share to connect from the outside to the inside.

Any tips or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

BTW I am using an 806 with 12.2 code, not sure if the router capabilities would be an issue.

Re: Accessing file shares behind router using NAT

Hi joes .

u r translating network address. private to private or private to public .

if ur translating pvt to public

after doing static nat. connect using public ip from outside .or just try to telnet that outside ip address from outside using rdp port . port number 3389

for example if ur outside ip is a.b.c.d then

telnet a.b.c.d 3389 . from outside ,try this and let me know
