AP 1242 change duplex settings after reboot

Hello,

we have over 100 AP1242 with c1240-k9w8-mx.124-23c.JA2 image, tow 5508 controller and WCS running. After the ap reboots, the duplex settings of the fa0 interface change to half duplex. I have to set it manually to full duplex. In my WCS or with the 5508 controller I have no chance to set the duplex settings for my ap's.

Best regards,

Hubert

Hi Hubert,

Try followings:

AP interface configuration:

1) WLC GUI -> Wireless -> Click on the AP -> Advanced -> Select "Telnet"
2) WLC GUI > Wireless -> Global Configuraion -> Configure Username and Password under "Login Credentials".
3) Telnet to the AP. then use following commands:

config t
interface g0 or f0)
duplex full

Hi,

I always use a ssh session to the AP to set the "duplex full" command to the fa0 interface. What is the differece to telnet over the WCS?

Best regards,

Hubert

Frankly speaking there is no need to set the setting of an AP.

usually ..just plug the AP to switch with default seetting and run away but if you are changing then ...you can do by telnet or ssh....its same.

Sorry, I always plug the AP to the switch but an reboot from the switch or AP set the AP in half duplex mode. Then I have to set full duplex manually for the time to next reboot.

HI ,

I am also using the same 1242AP.....so i can say that...it is not a bug.

Cisco Wireless products work best when both speed and duplex are autonegotiated, but you do have the option to set the duplex settings on the WLC and LAPs. In order to set the AP speed/duplex settings, you can configure the duplex settings for the LAPs on the controller and then, in turn, push them to the LAPs. configure ap ethernet duplex speed is the command to set the duplex settings through the CLI .This command is supported with versions 4.1 and later only. In order to set the duplex settings for the WLC physical interfaces, use the config port physicalmode {all | port} {100h | 100f | 10h | 10f} command. This command sets the specified or all front-panel 10/100BASE-T Ethernet ports for dedicated 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps, half-duplex or full-duplex operation. Note that you must disable autonegotiation with the config port autoneg disable command before you manually configure any physical mode on the port.

Ok. My APs were in auto mode for duplex and speed originally. Speed works fine but duplex not. So I will try the

configure ap ethernet duplex speed for my APs and I hope this will help.

Many thanks and best regards,

Hubert
