AR and Be

I am confused with Access Rate(AR) & Interface Bandwidth. We have 512Kbs bandwidth on the Interface.CIR is 192kbs. We have to allow Burst Max to 320Kbs. Then what should be Excess Burst Be ? Eigher it would 320000x125/1000 or (512000-192000)e.g 320000-192000=128000x125/1000 ???

Hello Rupesh,

the access rate is the speed of the link that connects to the FR WAN cloud.

Be is the amount of bits in excess that during Tc time interval are allowed if the FR WAN cloud is not experiencing congestion.

So the first calculation should be the right one.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
