Arp - cahe Issue ?????

Hi.

I am facing a problem some time my differnet sublents on two router did not ping each other . i ahve have simple sataic routes on my router's

i want to know about the Arp ????

How much time remain enty int arp table.

And how much its can save entries in table.

And how much time a entry stay in arp cache ???

Hi,

By default an entry remains for 4 hours in the cache. However you can change the default timeout if you want to. Enter the following command for the same:

"arp timeout seconds"

Also you can add an entry in the cache permanently if you want. Enter the following command for the same:

"arp x.x.x.x abcd.efgh.ijkl.mnop 'type'"

For ethernet, the type is 'arpa'

and for FDDI and token ring its 'snap'

However there might be some other reason for your two subnets, being unable to ping each other.

Thanks for ans and detail information.

I have advertize differnet network on the F0/0 because are intigrating the some differ network. and i have advertizise on lan as belwo mention

e.g.

ip route x.x.x.x 255.255.255.240 FastEthernet0/0 203.y.y.y (gatway for the network).

plz check it is it okkkkk

No problem !!!!

I am saying that i have advertized differt network on F0/0 of the router.

and the above is the example given to you that how i advertize the subnets.

one Thing more that arp cashe refreshes after 4 hours
