I wish to test a few settings with our remote access vpn on our 5510 but don't want to be modifying the configuration until after a test. We only have a 5505 spare. I know certain things may not work and licensing will be limited but is it possible to take a 5510 running config and putting it on a 5505 and the remote vpns to work?
It is not possible to take a configuration from a 5510 and put it on a 5505. The most important element here is the difference in interfaces and how they are identified. Also depending on how you are going to test you probably do not want the same IP addresses to be used (unless you will create a standalone test environment which can be a fairly complex thing to do). So some modification of the configuration would be necessary. It is not particularly difficult but some changes would be required.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
