I need to move from an ASA with no IPS to one with IPS. Can I copy over the configuration file from the current ASA to the new one. Will the IPS module cause me grief. It's a 5510 with a security plus license.
Thanks

There will be no problem. IPS configuration is done seperately. All that ASA needs configured is the traffic to send to IPS. If you dont have IPS installed and you install one your original configuration remains intact. You will just have to add more to make the IPS work.

Well if the IP's are going to remain the same (which should if you want the config to remain intact) then why don't you cinfigure the new ASA un-cabled and then replace one with the other.

That was the plan. Just wanted to be sure.
Thanks
