ASR 1002-X: cef has been disabled due to a low memory condition

Hello

We try to replace our 7204vxr NPE-G2 with some ASR1002-X with 4GB of memory.

Everything looks good, vrrp is working, bgp internal is also working.

But as soon as we enable one upstream with full tables, the router shows the following:

"cef has been disabled due to a low memory condition"

and bgp resets.

how is this possible? the NPE-G2 has 2 GB of Memory, the ASR1002-X has 4GB, should be no problem?

Config on interface:

interface GigabitEthernet0/0/1
 description upstream xy
 ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.252
 ip access-group 100 in
 no ip redirects
 no ip unreachables
 no ip proxy-arp
 negotiation auto
 ipv6 address xxxx:xxxx:3::1F:2/112
 ipv6 enable
 ipv6 nd ra suppress
 no ipv6 redirects
 no cdp enable

 neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx activate
  neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx send-community
  neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx next-hop-self
  neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx remove-private-as
  neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx weight 100
  neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx soft-reconfiguration inbound
  neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx prefix-list AS-COMPANY out
  neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx route-map upstream-In in
  neighbor xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx route-map upstream-Out out

Is there something we miss? some big difference from the 7204 to the asr 1002?

many thanks!

regards

Sebastian

<B>Symptom:</B>
Documentation error in Cisco ASR 1000 Series Route Processor Data Sheet

Link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps9343/data_sheet_c78-441072_ps3842_Products_Data_Sheet.html

The performance tab in table 5 states support up to 1,000,000 IPv4 or 1,000,000 IPv6 routes, but does not specify the recommended memory. Realistically, ASR 1002-X with 4GB memory can support 500k IPv4 or 500k IPv6 routes uni-dimensionally.

<B>Conditions:</B>
BGP is configured to receive close to 500,000 routes that cause memory utilization to spike.

<B>Workaround:</B>
Please see the link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps9343/data_sheet_c78-450070.html

This specifies that 4 GB DRAM ASR1002-X cannot more than 500,000 routes.
