Re: Async device to AUX port

Hi Dewang

What kind of asynchronous device will you be connecting to the router aux port? An async port can be even a serial (COM / LPT) port ? Is it an ip enabled device?

What kind of application will recieve the data at the remote end? Is the application ip enabled as well?

Re: Async device to AUX port

hi arvind,

the device having the com port and it is not ip capable device and remot side having software for that device which can understand the data output from the device means device need to have compailer to understand the message.

Re: Async device to AUX port

Most software that read data from COM ports directly require direct physical connectivity to the device to retrive the data.

I dont think what you mentioned in your question would be possible. IF your device is SNMP capable, you could poll the device for status messages and send these SNMP messages across the ip network but I dont think you are looking at doing something like that.

Perhaps you could work with your software developers to get an ip enabled version if that is within your budget?
