Hi all,
Could you pls let me know the ATM encapsulation types supported by Cisco.
Any one having prior experience in having ATM connectivity between Cisco device and marconi FORE switches.
Also want to know whether Cisco supports the below encapsulation types
a) Vc-mux
c) LLC multiplexing
Thanks in advance,
Thomas.

Hi,
Cisco produces a variety of ATM products (f.e. Routers, MGX, BPX, 8540, etc.)
On a PVC in a router you can use
a) encapsulation aal5mux
c) encapsulation aal5snap (RFC1483)
interface atm1/0/1.100 point-to-point
pvc 10/100
encapsulation aal5snap
!rest omitted
This should match the respective FORE encapsulations.
Regards
Martin

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your reply.
Just one more doubt.
1) As I mentioned in my previous mail ,whether vc-mux encapsulation and llc multiplexing encapsulations are supported by Cisco.
2) Is aal5 mux and vc-mux are the same..?
Thanks ..

Hi martin,
One more query,
In other words, which encapsulation in Cisco,is the default..
RFC 1483 routed encapsulation or rfc 1483 bridged
encapsulation.
Thanks.
