BGP and EIGRP

Hi All,

I have gotten a little advice here before on this topic, but back for some clarification.

I currently run EIGRP inside my lan as I have many subnets. I will soon need to run eBGP from my internet router, through my lan to mpls wan router. Do I really have to redistribute my EIGRP into the BGP or can I just let the edge bgp router know of my networks with network statements? I am only passing default route between mpls router and internet router.

TIA,

R

If you are using public address and want to advertise to the Internet, then you can redistribute or include network command to the BGP. However, the ISP will ask you to summarize your address.

If it is a private address then you cannot advetise the route to Internet.

What I suggest to use the network statement in BGP is fine. Moreover, you can consult w/ the MPLS provider for the suggestion to enable BGP and how to advertise what route to the network.

Please provide more info. for further investigtion.

Hope this helps.
