BGP Issue - Prefixes

Check the physical connection between routers AnelHQ & AnelCORE.

Router AnelHQ has (apparently) no physical connection to AnelCORE - the next hop listed in the routing table is the ISP router as shown here

AnelHQ#show ip bgp

BGP table version is 9, local router ID is 200.10.1.162

Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i - internal,

             r RIB-failure, S Stale

Origin codes: i - IGP, e - EGP, ? - incomplete

Network          Next Hop           Metric LocPrf Weight Path

* 10.1.10.1/32     200.10.1.161                           0 3212 65000 ?

which means traffic for 10.1.254.2 is hitting AnelHQ and being sent back to the ISP router in a classic routing loop.

Are you sure.

1) The AnelHQ and AnelCORE routers are physically connected? I notice you're using FE ports - do you have a crossover cable linking them? FE ports normally do *not* support auto MDI/X, so you need to link them with a crossover.

Can you post the output of the following command from router AnelHQ

show interface f1/0

Cheers.

i can ping 10.1.254.2 (AnelCore) from AnelHQ (10.1.254.1) and vice versa..

BGP Issue - Prefixes

AnelHQ#show running-config interface fastEthernet 1/0
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 87 bytes
!
interface FastEthernet1/0
no switchport
ip address 10.1.254.1 255.255.255.252
end

BGP Issue - Prefixes

Hi,

IMHO, you would need to redistribute BGP to OSPF on your ANELHQ router.

Without that, the ANELCORE router does not know how to route back to 200.10.2.162 (your source IP addres when Pinging from Makkah router to 10.1.254.2).

But be careful, a mutual redistribution between OSFP and BGP could be a little tricky.

Not in this simple topology, but in a case there were more routers involved in the ANEL site, e.g.
