BGP "set metric-type internal" Is this still used?

Guys,

Can I assume this is an old command and is now longer required? Tried a lot of searing the web/forums to get a clear definitive awnser on this.

As you can see, buy default my IGP metric is in the bgp table and being advertised?

Re: BGP "set metric-type internal" Is this still used?

The MED is indeed set by default to the the IGP metric when IGP routes are originated in bgp either by using the redistribute or network command. The "set metric-type internal" is not required in this case.

The "set metric-type internal" command is rather used to set the MED to the IGP metric for prefixes learnt via iBGP. The MED is set to the IGP metric of the BGP next-hop.

Hope this helps,
