Blocking p2p connections on cisco 877w router

hi,

I want to block all sorts of peer to peer connections that would be initiated by users.

I could not find a configuration guide for 877w router.

What would be the steps required to block sites like torrent etc from being accessed by users

Hello Anthic,

to verify if this can be feasible you should check if NBAR Network Based Application Recognition feature is available on your device.

read about NBAR

https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/qos/configuration/guide/nbar_mqc_ps6441_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1055125

you can use the feature navigator tool to check

www.cisco.com/go/fn

search by feature

type NBAR

choice

NBAR bittorrent PLDM

(NBAR uses special files separated from IOS for protocol definitions)

I see it for 881 or other 880 routers not for 877.

I see 877 listed for NBAR -pdlm versioning

So you may be able to configure qos policy-maps to drop or to limit peer-to-peer traffic as explained in first link above.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
