just got an 1861 that says it supports BRI over the FXO interface, I'm looking for some links to information that will talk about configuring it.
Thanks.

Hello Richard,
I've found the following link
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/vvf_c/cisco_ios_isdn_voice_configuration_guide/isdn031.html
It says:
The EVM-HD-8FXS/DID baseboard network module provides eight Foreign Exchange Station (FXS) or direct inward dialing (DID) ports. This network module accesses digital signal processor (DSP) modules on the motherboard, instead of using onboard DSPs. You can increase the port density by plugging in up to two optional expansion modules in any combination:
â¢EM-HDA-8FXS-8-port FXS voice/fax expansion module
â¢EM-HDA-3FXS/4FXO-3-port FXS and 4-port FXO voice/fax expansion module
â¢EM-HDA-6FXO-6-port FXO voice/fax expansion module
â¢EM-4BRI-NT/TE-4-port ISDN BRI expansion module
If your router has this network module EVM-HD-8FXS/DID verify if you have installed the right expansion module EM-4BRI-NT/TE.
and also:
Patch Panel Installation
For the BRI interface port, you must install an appropriate patch panel. Patch panels are generally available from multiple cable and network adapter vendors:
Hope to help

I have a vic2-4fxo installed, and was reading that I could use this as a BRI interface.

The 1861 supports 2 BRI or 4 FXO ports, but not on the same chassis. You can't run BRI over FXO ports, they are physically and electrically different. Refer here for the 1861 datasheet -

OK, I guess misunderstood what I had read. Would it be the same situation with the FXS interface?
