I've got a Catalyst 3500 XL Series switch and I need to get into it to reset the password. The mode button is broken. Is there a command I can send through hyperterminal to achieve the same effect and reach the switch: prompt?

You have to replace the Mode switch. Then only you can able to reset the password.
