(C7200-IPBASE-M), Version 12.4(4)XD is not supporting BGP Protoc

Hello Ahmed,

Assuming the new IOS will not be able to boot and run smoothly, you should always be able to send the break sequence from your terminal while (any) IOS is booting, and in the ROMMON, you should be able to use the boot command to boot a selected IOS.

This document describes the procedure:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps359/products_tech_note09186a00800a750e.shtml

Hello Ahmed,

I am afraid the router is telling the truth. The IP Base feature set does not contain the support for BGP. You need at least SP SERVICES or Advanced Security feature set to have the BGP support.

Try the Cisco Feature Navigator tool at http://cisco.com/go/fn to find out exactly what feature set contains the functions you need.

hi ,

i loaded  the ios which support bgp to my new router and i just need to type the command below :

but im

hesitant

to do it , thats why im asking ,

is there any risk of loading the new ios  ???

(C7200-IPBASE-M), Version 12.4(4)XD is not supporting BGP Protoc

Hello Ahmed,

The two routers do not appear to have the same amount of RAM. The 7200 router running the IPBASE image appears to have 960MB RAM, however, the Advanced Enterprise Services image requires at least 1024MB RAM (this fact can be confirmed in the Feature Navigator tool). I am afraid it will not be able to run it on your new 7200 router. You need an image with smaller memory requirement.

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Ahmed,

The IOS image name on the previous 7200 is "c7200p-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T4.bin" - I do not see such image in your new 7200 router. Did you rename it during the copy?

Best regards,

Peter

Re: (C7200-IPBASE-M), Version 12.4(4)XD is not supporting BGP Pr

yes i renamed it to

c7200p-kboot-mz.124-4.XD5-Gateway.bin ===> this is the new iso which support bgp

u can see it in     #sh bootflash  command       above

wts the next step

(C7200-IPBASE-M), Version 12.4(4)XD is not supporting BGP Protoc

Hello Ahmed,

Renaming IOS images is a bad practice - please never do that. Rename the image back to its original name.

Try using the exact line in your configuration:

boot system bootflash:c7200p-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T4.bin

Then, after entering this command in the global config mode, write the configuration using the copy run start command, and then reload the router. Optionally, try running the show boot or show bootvar command before reboot and post the output here: this command should print out the settings of boot variables influencing which IOS will be loaded.

Best regards,

Peter

Re: (C7200-IPBASE-M), Version 12.4(4)XD is not supporting BGP Pr

Hello Ahmed,

Try to find out into which filesystem exactly did you copy the IOS. You may use the show file systems command to find out which filesystems are recognized on your 7200. The boot system command will need to know the exact filesystem where the IOS is loaded.

If nothing else helps, you may try to delete the existing IOS and leave only the new IOS in place.

Best regards,

Peter
