Can a 3640 use a NM-1T3/E3

I need to know if a DS-3 Card (NM-1T3/E3) can work in a Cisco 3640. I have two pages that contradict each other in what platforms work with this card. If it does work with this platform, what is the min IOS? 12.2(11)YT???

The two pages are:

Cisco 2600/3600/3700 Series T3/E3 Network Module:

which states that the 3640 is not supported, and

Overview of Cisco NEtwork Modules for Cisco Access Routers:

Which states that all modules listed on page will work in 3640.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Todd,

the information is confusing indeed. I'll send and email to Cisco pre-sales, and see what they say, I will post their response.

Even though the second link seems to indicate that the 3640, does support NM1T3/E3, at the bottom of the same link it shows in Table 1-6, that 3640 doesnt support the module. The list of routers that support this seems to be,

Cisco 2650XM

Cisco 2651XM

Cisco 2691

Cisco 2811

Cisco 2821

Cisco 2851

Cisco 3660

Cisco 3700 series

Cisco 3800 series

Cisco MWR 1941-DC

There have been questions similar to this in the past in this forum, but I cant seem to locate them via search.

ATM DS3 module NM-1A-T3 seems to be supported on the 3640, but not the NM-1T3/E3.

i want to do the same. did you get this confirmed that the NM card does *not* work in a 3640

Re: Can a 3640 use a NM-1T3/E3

AFAIK, it doesnt. You will need to use a router like 3700 or 3800.
