Can anyone tell me why I can't copy images above 8MB?

When I attempt to tftp an IOS image larger than 8MB, I get a message stating I don't have enough space. The flash was recently upgraded from 8MB to 32MB and the router has 128MB of DRAM (See attached show version).

Router#dir

Directory of flash:/

No files in directory

33030140 bytes total (33030140 bytes free)

The following is the 12MB image I'm trying to copy.  I have tried to copy multiple images over 8MB with no success.

09/06/2013  04:58 PM        12,373,380 c3640-i-mz.124-25d.bin

Here's the error.

Router#copy tftp flash

Hi,

Router uptime is 7 minutes

System returned to ROM by power-on

System image file is "flash:c3640-io3-mz.122-26c.bin"

So you've got an IOS in flash but dir  doesn't show it,that's strange ! Does show flash: is also empty ?

Regards

Alain

Don't forget to rate helpful posts.

The flash was empty at the time I was creating this post.  I was in the middle of troubleshooting.

Router#sh flash

System flash directory:

File  Length   Name/status

  1   6934228  c3640-io3-mz.122-26c.bin

[6934292 bytes used, 26095848 available, 33030140 total]

32768K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

Router#

Try using TFTPd32 or TFTPd64.

I have been using TFTP32.

Post the output to the command "dir".

Router#dir
Directory of flash:/

    1  -rw-     6934228                      c3640-io3-mz.122-26c.bin

33030140 bytes total (26095848 bytes free)

did you try to format flash from console of device ?

There is no format command available.

I tried the instruction in the link but it still copies 8MB of the file and then stops with the same error.
