Can CSU/DSU on VWIC-2MFT-T1 be disabled?

My carrier has their own CSU/DSU. Is there a way to disable the internal CSU/DSU on a VWIC-2MFT-T1 so that I can use the ports to connect to the external CSU/DSU?

Re: Can CSU/DSU on VWIC-2MFT-T1 be disabled?

The CSU/DSU refers to the functions of any interface to a T1 link, including cleaning up the circuit, reading the bits, converting to frames, etc.

Most external CSU/DSU's convert the T1 to V.35 serial, in order to interface with equipment. If you happen to have a CSU/DSU that passes the connection off as T1, you can go ahead and connect it to the VWIC.

Biggest question here is: why bother using the external CSU/DSU? Its just a dumb box that performs electrical conversions, the same functions the VWIC performs. You'd probably be better off hooking the T1 directly into the VWIC.
