can I configure the WAN port for remote configuration access

My client is using an 891 ISR - can I configure the WAN port to allow me to have remote access to the router for troubleshooting and montioring? What syntax would I use to configure this?

Hi @MikeB2TStrategies,What

Hi @MikeB2TStrategies,

What decides if you can access remotely to the device is the configuration in your virtual lines (or line vty). If you want to configure the lines for remote access you can follow this basic configuration:

-

enable secret <secret password>

line vty 0 4

 login

 password <password>

 transport input <telnet> <ssh> <all>

-

or:

-

enable secret <password>

username <user> password <password>

line vty 0 4

 login local

 transport input <telnet> <ssh> <all>

-

When you do this, you just have to telnet or ssh to the IP that is configured in the WAN port.

HTH.
