Can Multiple Paths be Locally Injected into BGP?

In this scenario a router running 15.2(4) is dual connected to two others using an EIGRP as the IGP.  It is receiving the same network 10.0.0.0/8 prefix from both neighbors.  When this route is injected into BGP using either the network statement or redistribution only a single route is installed in the BGP table which points to one of the two next hops of the EIGRP neighbors.

This situation was reproduced using static routes as well.

I tried the maximum-paths statements as well as "bgp additional-paths install".

It becomes a challenge because the redistribution occurs in a vrf that is imported into a separate vrf.  With only one path being advertised via BGP to one next hop the traffic is not load shared across the two available links.

So it is possible to locally inject mulple routes into BGP with differnet next hops?

Thank you,

Scott

Cannot say for sure for your IOS version, and unsure whether VRF will be a problem, but there was a hidden BGP command to use multiple next hops.  Off the top of my head, don't recall what the command is.  It's noted in some other forum posts, and if you cannot find it (search these forums), likely someone else will post the command.

[edit]

Found the command I had in mind:

bgp bestpath as-path multipath-relax
